Plan A – a Vercors fest

I think I made a good call to postpone this ride from yesterday: today’s been wall-to-wall sunshine on Vercors with crystal-blue skies, and that’s an unbeatable combination.

The route’s a simple one: over col de Rousset, down to Pont-en-Royans, up the Gorges de la Bourne to Villard-de-Lans, back over the col d’Herbouilly to return home via la Chapelle & col de Rousset again. About 100 miles, 9000ft of climbing, and enough feasting for the eyes and spirit to last a week.

And now to eat a week’s food to make up for the day’s calorie deficit.

  1. 9000 ft of climbing = one and a half Ventouxs. Are the climbs varied or very much in the 7-10% range of Ventoux?

    1. Mostly like Ventoux for eeason of wintertime usability, though the odd back road will have bits up to about 15%, I’d estimate.
